Costs

Ongoing costs

Aside from acquisition costs, alpacas are comparatively cheap to grow.

In addition to the (self-supplied) time and energy required to care for the animals, there are the initial costs associated with erecting fencing, and if necessary the costs for a shelter.

After that there are the ongoing costs for food (hay and mineral nutrients) and veterinary costs. The latter are normally low, as alpacas are very robust and not prone to diseases.
